To phrase it really bad, the science classes in Malaysia are like history classes of the western science.
When I was younger, I thought the western science and technologies was the solution, what I chased was only the dynamic of western confidence in science, scientific knowledge and ideas.
Very often, when we think other nations has the better things, we forgot about what we have and they do not. We have Allah, Buddha, Jesus, Confucius, peace, friendliness, friends, family, temperature, inter-racial experiences, ...
I don't know how many people know this, a lot of problems were shifted but not solved, living quality has improved, environmental quality was sacrificed, social interactions became massive, self-reflecting time then incorporated with a sense of guilt and it became scarce.
We are neither more equal, nor more different. It is the heart and imaginations that measure.
As every religion says, be humble to get wiser, a 70 year old people, is wise, but still he can get wiser, 7 year old boy is definitely the same. We should all be humble and learn from each other, west from the east, east from the west, north from the south and south from the north; With respect and gratefulness. It is not easy to be in touch right?
I think science and technology is awesome. With the energy surplus and food surplus in the west over the past centuries, if not science and technologies, something else, like, meditations would be really advanced too. Because the justice system was set up that we need to do something to make a living, meditations was of course not possible (given that something not measurable cannot be shared justifiably) (also tangible stuff was easier to work with compare to the non-tangible ones).
What I really want to say is, I want to urge us, to do what we can do, to build real value out of what we have, and farm this value throughout our life time. Do you understand me Mr. Lim Zhen Yu?
